That’s right. I would like to help raise some cash for the Attleboro Arts Museum’s Annual Fund and I am willing to part with my ponytail. All eight inches of it.
The Museum’s resources, like so many others, have been hurt by the financial downturn causing a loss of select foundation grants, state and city funds, and staff furloughs. Even the weather played its part in the Museum’s 2009/2010 financial challenges. The Spring flooding compromised the lower level classrooms, storage areas and the mechanical systems. Cost to date: $21,000 and will go higher, with only $2,500 covered by insurance. And the only FEMA relief for which they are currently eligible is a low-interest loan.
The Attleboro Arts Museum is a community resource that needs to be sustained. It provides opportunities for learning, creativity, exhibiting art, performance and gathering with family and friends.
Did you know that this past year 800 children and adults from 31 surrounding communities attended art camps, classes and workshops?
So here’s the scoop. I’m looking for at least a $10 donation.
Every $250 equals 1 inch trimmed from my ponytail, so $2,000 takes it off. $4,000 collected means I’ll get a crewcut and $5,000 is a complete shave.
You have until the end of the month, June 30 to make a donation and you can do it online. The Museum has a secure site (click the link below). Just make sure where it says DONATION TYPE you select Annual Fund; and where you are asked HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT US? type in “Haircut.”
Click on the scissors above to make your online donation or
mail a check to the Attleboro Arts Museum, 86 Park St., Attleboro, MA 02703 make sure you put “Annual Fund/Haircut” on the check, or stop by the Museum and drop off your donation.
All donations are tax-deductible and help support the
Attleboro Arts Museum’s Annual Fund.
I will get my ponytail cut, get a crewcut or shave my head depending on the donations made by June 30, 2010. I will be posting the totals as I get them with the grand total to following after the 30th. Before and after pictures and maybe even a video to prove that I followed through.
